The Bernard Pivot Questionnaire was developed by the French journalist and TV host. Made famous in the US by James Lipton, former host of Inside the Actor's Studio, the 10 questions are meant to gain insight into the guest's thoughts and feelings. Below, I answer the Pivot Questionnaire. What are your answers? Let's respectfully discuss in the comments!
1. What is your favorite word?
Indubitably. It's a real fun word to say, and it is a long word to denote a simple concept--with out doubt.
2. What is your least favorite word?
It's not a single word, but a phrase-- "x years young." No, you don't get younger. You can feel young, look young, act young--that's all good. But you're not "x years young." You get older, not younger.
3. What turns you on?
Intelligence, common sense, and curiosity. People who love to learn. It doesn't matter if they are self-taught or have a formal education. The point is life long learning. Also, just basic common sense.
4. What turns you off?
I guess it would be the opposite of the above: ignorance.
5. What sound or noise do you love?
If I had a baby girl, I would say her laughter. I'm not a parent of any kind, however, so my favorite sound is a well-crafted joke. Also Billy Joel and Phil Collins music.
6. What sound or noise do you hate?
The old classic: fingernails on a chalkboard.
7. What is your favorite curse word?
Keeping this family-friendly, I'll say the F-word (we all know what word I mean). It is very versatile. It can be a verb, a noun, an adjective. It can do it all.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Attorney. I've always had a low- to mid-level interest in the law. Or, a pilot as I love flying.
9. What profession would you not like to do?
Accountant. I know it's all computerized now, but I'm not the best at math, and it seems very complicated.
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"I bet you're surprised to see me."
