A Trip to Maine: Part 1

I’m on vacation this week, so I decided to take a getaway to Maine. Maine in the Fall is a nice place. The weather is a little cooler and you can see foliage along the way.

My home for the next few days is Ogunquit, a small town along the coast. A little north of Kittery, the community features many little restaurants, cafes, resorts, and art galleries. The Marginal Way, a rocky, cliffside walking trail that follows the beach, is a popular tourist attraction.

The weather held out nicely today, with a cool breeze and sunny skies. There will be a storm coming in tomorrow night, but I’ll deal with that when the time comes.

Since check in at the hotel, The Terrace By The Sea, isn’t until 3:00 p.m. I stopped in Kittery outlets along the way—a place that is hardly worth going to anymore with most of my favorite stores now gone. There was a bookstore there, but not any more. Well, at least Henry VIII Carvery is still around! That was going to be lunch, but they are closed on Tuesdays, as it turned out. Oh, well.

Good news is I came across a used book store further up Route 1: Douglas N Harding Books, Maps, and Prints. It is a huge store, and I got two hardcovers and a paperback for $36.00.

What a deal!

Finally arriving at the hotel, I take some pictures and grab a bite to eat. That’s enough for today. Tomorrow is the Marginal Way.
